Ingrown Toe Nails
Chemocautery > permanent removal nail root

Chemocautery of the nail root is the most effective method for permanent correction of the ingrown toe nail.

Generally, a local anesthetic is utilized to numb the area and eliminate discomfort. A small segment of the nail - and nail root is then excised, usually one side, and a chemical is utilized to dissolve the nail root. The area is dressed with a small bandage the fits into a regular shoe.

There is minimal need for post-operative pain medication and most patients return to regular activities promptly. The area generally heals within a few days.
